It's a Party and I'm BACK!

Okay friends....I'm baaack! I've missed you! You know when I've blogged five times this past week and I'm done with my long term teaching assignment...I must be back. Yea!

Now on to the party....

Caden's birthday is November 21st. After doing the long term sub position, I did not have a lot of time to put into planning this party. I threw this party together in one week. This is a hectic time of the year, but I love it. Caden wanted to go ice-skating, so we decided to have his party at the Jones Center for families. The theme of his party was a candy theme. It was a lot of fun!

Here is the cake I made for the party. I got my inspiration from Paige's Pantry. It was one of the easiest cakes I've made, so much fun. I made a chocolate cake (at Caden's request) and chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake underneath does not have to look perfect. It gets covered up with all that chocolate candy. It was a big hit!

This is the candy bar I set up. I've seen this around blogland and had to try it. I figured the candy would really pop with the white table cloths. However, next time I would use color. It didn't quite have the impact I was going for.

I used a picture of Caden in front of a candy machine to add to the table. I also made candy covered Oreos in orange and white with colored sprinkles. Some of the candy I used was: Skittles, Tootsie rolls, Smarties, Gummies, gumballs, candied Oreos, and chocolate bowls. The guests got to fill a baggie up of candy to take home with them.

The chocolate bowls were a lot of fun to make and even more fun to eat!

Add some ice-cream and it becomes a really special treat!

Birthday boy enjoying his sweets!

I made these cute labels to add a little detail to the cups. It was functional too! I was going to print out the names in a fun font, but my printer was messed up. Plan B...just write it on there. Still cute.

The beverage station was set up with ice, lemonade, soft drinks, and water. I was the lucky one who the Sprite exploded all over! Yep, that was me! Too bad there not a picture or video of that. It actually got on my camera too, but turned out fine.

The blocks were found at a yard sale recently for $1.00. They spell out a lot of different sayings like Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and more. They worked out great here too.

For lunch we served pizza and salad. After having the cake and ice-cream, Caden starting opening his gifts.

The snake bike he picked out a couple of weeks before. He planned on asking Santa for it!

Caden ended up falling more than he skated, but it was a lot of fun! Thanks to all of Caden's friends and family! You helped make Caden's 6th birthday a real sweet treat!

4th of July Fun!

Traditionally ever 4Th of July we spend time with my In-laws. Usually it is spent on the river. This year they took a trip to Minnesota to see their grand-daughter get married and to spend time with their daughter and her family! Congrats on your upcoming wedding Cynthia!

This 4Th of July we went to my good friend Tammy's house. Tammy is an amazing person. She is so talented in so many areas. I've tried to convince her to open an Etsy shop because she is so crafty, or at least start blogging...no such luck yet! Tammy also throws amazing parties! We had a blast playing cards, horseshoes, eating lots of DELICIOUS food, swimming, and watching fireworks. Unfortunately, I was having too much fun to remember to go get my camera! I cannot believe I forgot to take pictures!

I did however take a few photos before we left home!

A fruit pizza I made to take to my friends party. I also took a veggie tray, dip, and our snow cone maker with lots of flavors, and some fireworks.

My fun toes!

I am so blessed to have Tammy in my life! I adore you and your great family!

I'm also thankful for this country and all the sacrifices that were made and still are being made today!
God bless America!

The boys had a good time at the baseball champion swimming party!

Tuesday: Off to Devil's Den for caving and a picnic with the boys cousins and grandparents. And an unexpected emergency.

The cousins....yep we have the only boys on Michael's side of the family! On our hike to the caves. This was Caden's first time to go caving! He loved it!

Tuesday night I had a bad headache. I was thrilled to be home for the night. Nope didn't happen...this night my mom and my brother's girls were in a bad auto accident. Three cars...7 people involved. Thank the Lord no one needed an ambulance! One ticket, one arrested, and one got their car shoved into a big ditch for further damage! So off to see my mom and nieces. We love you Grandma. We are so thankful you and the girls were not seriously injured...or anyone else!

Wednesday: Friends come over for the day.

They played the Wii, went on a hike, went to the creek, and had snow cones!

At the creek.... On the hike........ Yummy snow cones!

Thursday: My sister and I go visit and interview my grandma who is 96 years old...born in 1912.

My sister and grandma...my picture with her turned out blurry! ;o(

We got to visit my grandma...my only living grandparent left. I loved learning more about her life. I loved learning how she met my grandpa. It was love at first sight. She said when she saw him in church something just popped out...(holding her heart)...he told her it happened to him too! So sweet! We love you grandma Lane! What a treasure to have her story on video.

Friday: Blog, catch up on house, and work on my mile long to do list! Cameron's birthday party is less than a month away! Big priority for next week!

Hope you have a fun, enjoyable weekend!

Mary Kay Party

Last night, I had a Mary Kay Party. I had five friends/family over which means I got $50.00 of free product!! I also got a $10 gift card! I am new to Mary Kay, but so far have been impressed with their products.

The hostess for the night was Franny. She is an adorable, sweet, outgoing lady. She is great at what she does!!

I am ready to co-host a party with another friend. I am trying to win a free purse and more free product! It was a fun night. We did skincare and makeup. It's fun to try new products and play make-up.

My guests: Mom, Tara, Davina, Tammy, and Melisha.
Thank you for coming to my party girls. Man...why did I have to promise to put NO pictures from the party on my blog?? So tempting! You girls looked fabulous!
