This project has evolved over two years. Chalkboards have been the rage in homes for several years now. In 2009, I wanted to jump on the bandwagon and make a chalkboard for my home. I had made one plate chalkboard in the kitchen, but I wanted something bigger. Finally, I rediscovered this picture that was under our bed. The glass was broken, the picture was scratched really bad, so I decided it needed a new life.
Before:
I bought some chalkboard paint and this is how it looked for a year! Now you know why you don't see more projects. I have too many started and not finished. Geez!
During:
First day of summer break 2009
Here is how it looks today! I love it. I painted the mat a pretty green with some free paint from Glidden, but was not satisfied. I then added some ribbon on top and love it. I also spray painted the frame black. Here is the new and improved chalkboard...
After:
How many chalkboards are in your home?

I love the last change in the chalkboard. We really don't have many chalkboards. Though I think we will start getting more as our schedules get wilder. Right now I have a canister set that have little chalkboards on them.
I hope you have a great day and great creation!
I don't own a single chalkboard! Such a shame right? I think that yours looks amazing.
How cute is that!! I love gleaning wonderful ideas from talented people!

Oooooh, love it! We only have one chalkboard in the house, and it's on the girls' easel. Sheesh! And do not get me started on projects that don't get finished. I'm with ya.
I love that! The ribbon is great. I don't have a chalkboard. Maybe I need one...
I love the chalkboard...how cute and simple too! I would have never even thought to do that with an old picture frame and believe me, I have lots of those! I have always loved chalkboards, I think it's the teacher in me!
Have a fabulous weekend Rhonda!
God bless-
Trudy
I definitely want to read a bit more soon. BTW, rather nice design this blog has, but don’t you think design should be changed from time to time?
Anonymous needs to shut up. First of all, IMO.
Second, that chalkboard is amazing! I love what you did to it! Isn't it funny how you do something and then change your mind and have to re-do it? I do that all the time.
I love it!! You did a great job. I do not have any chalkboards at my house!!
Very cute!
