It's a Party and I'm BACK!

Okay friends....I'm baaack! I've missed you! You know when I've blogged five times this past week and I'm done with my long term teaching assignment...I must be back. Yea!

Now on to the party....

Caden's birthday is November 21st. After doing the long term sub position, I did not have a lot of time to put into planning this party. I threw this party together in one week. This is a hectic time of the year, but I love it. Caden wanted to go ice-skating, so we decided to have his party at the Jones Center for families. The theme of his party was a candy theme. It was a lot of fun!

Here is the cake I made for the party. I got my inspiration from Paige's Pantry. It was one of the easiest cakes I've made, so much fun. I made a chocolate cake (at Caden's request) and chocolate buttercream frosting. The cake underneath does not have to look perfect. It gets covered up with all that chocolate candy. It was a big hit!

This is the candy bar I set up. I've seen this around blogland and had to try it. I figured the candy would really pop with the white table cloths. However, next time I would use color. It didn't quite have the impact I was going for.

I used a picture of Caden in front of a candy machine to add to the table. I also made candy covered Oreos in orange and white with colored sprinkles. Some of the candy I used was: Skittles, Tootsie rolls, Smarties, Gummies, gumballs, candied Oreos, and chocolate bowls. The guests got to fill a baggie up of candy to take home with them.

The chocolate bowls were a lot of fun to make and even more fun to eat!

Add some ice-cream and it becomes a really special treat!

Birthday boy enjoying his sweets!

I made these cute labels to add a little detail to the cups. It was functional too! I was going to print out the names in a fun font, but my printer was messed up. Plan B...just write it on there. Still cute.

The beverage station was set up with ice, lemonade, soft drinks, and water. I was the lucky one who the Sprite exploded all over! Yep, that was me! Too bad there not a picture or video of that. It actually got on my camera too, but turned out fine.

The blocks were found at a yard sale recently for $1.00. They spell out a lot of different sayings like Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and more. They worked out great here too.

For lunch we served pizza and salad. After having the cake and ice-cream, Caden starting opening his gifts.

The snake bike he picked out a couple of weeks before. He planned on asking Santa for it!

Caden ended up falling more than he skated, but it was a lot of fun! Thanks to all of Caden's friends and family! You helped make Caden's 6th birthday a real sweet treat!

That party was awesome! Love the candy bar idea. The cake looks so good! And the birthday boy is adorable.
We bought the tree @ Lowes. They have great trees. It was around $35and they trimmed it and bagged it. Love that! If you you need more trimmings...they had a box marked free trimming that are left over from trees. I scored a whole bad of extra greens.
