Work and Play

My dh had two whole days off from work before he had to go back. He is a teacher. He should have the summers off. Well not my hubby...always wanting to be a good provider. He has taught all summer at the U of A, and today he is back in school.

So what did we do for the two days off? Monday, we took Cameron to the doctor. He ended up with a bacterial infection which is contagious. We have been swabbing our nose with antibiotic ointment to keep us from getting it every since.

Tuesday we decided to have a family fun day. We decided to take the boys to the Gentry Safari and go on a picnic. We ate our lunch at the lake. It was nice except for the all the insects coming to visit and a "jumping spider" down my back. However, the blueberry fight was fun!

Cameron was being pelted with some blueberries and then he turned around and we got a good laugh!

When we arrived at the safari and realized it was around 100 degrees that day, we armed ourselves with cold water and headed off toward the babies first. I love babies! All things little.

Before we reached the babies we noticed pony rides and a camel ride. The boys decided they wanted to ride the camel. $10.00 for four times around in a circle. Not very frugal but watching them made it worth it.

Here are some of our favorite animals we saw. Caden couldn't wait to see the kangaroos. He really wanted to see one hop. He got his wish! However, most were just laying around. This kangaroo was chillaxin!

What 100 degrees looks like on Caden. He is not sunburned just HOT! Thank goodness for the water! Caden is shaking the Lemur's hand. Glad he didn't wake him up because a helper came by to put him up and said he gets cranky when you wake him up. She was right.

Daddy had to remind the boys what they ate for breakfast! Did you know the pigs wag their tail like dogs! So funny!

My favorite....a baby monkey! So cute!

After the petting zoo we got in our car and cooled off as we went on the drive. It took us about an hour to see the rest of the animals. Cameron was our photographer on the drive. Here is a few of his shots. I thought he did a great job! At least we didn't have any bathroom incidents on the drive this time! Two years ago we had to get creative when Cam had to go right now. You are not suppose to get out on the drive or roll your window down. Thank goodness for boys and water bottles!

One of the favorite things the boys did was feeding the goats. Now they want a goat!

This is a 20 second video! I just love it!

So scary abut Cameron's infection. I hope you are all past that now. What a fun place to visit--the Safari. Looks like the boys had a good time with all the animals. Keeping everyone happy in the heat is a trick by itself isn't it? Loved the goat video and Cameron's good pics too especially the funny chillin' kangaroo! Take care and I hope you don't have anymore of those jumping spiders in your life--Yuk!

Looks like fun. Did you allow them to hold the snake? Coco went recently with her grandparents and I now have a photo of her with it around her neck. Gives me the woolies!

I love it when people say that those in education get off all summer. Let's not talk about the summer school, higher education or side jobs that those in education do in the summer. Alright, off the soap box.
Looks like you all had a great day. I love all of the photos. The one of the little monkey was super cute.
Have a great day!

Ok, you do realize that you lost me after A JUMPING SPIDER WAS DOWN YOUR BACK. The rest is a blur. I am freaking out. Screammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! That would have been the end of my trip. I cannot, I MEAN CANNOT stand spiders!

Oh dear.

What a great family day! Love the video at the end...they look so cute! Made me smile to see all the little animals (and your captions). Too funny about last year's driving through the park experience. That must have been quite interesting with a water bottle. :)
